Step-by-step walkthroughs for everything Encrypt Send does — from your first install to Pro branding.

Step 1

Install from the Zoom Marketplace

Encrypt Send installs straight from the Zoom Marketplace — no separate account, no manual setup.

After install — Encrypt Send dashboard with your portal URL, monthly usage, and quick actions
Go to marketplace.zoom.us on your computer or mobile device.
Use the Marketplace search to find "Encrypt Send."
Click the install button on the Encrypt Send listing. Zoom walks you through a quick authorization, and once approved you'll be redirected to a welcome page.
Look for a welcome message in Zoom Team Chat with a link to open the app. You can come back any time by opening Zoom → Apps → Encrypt Send.

Step 2

Receive files via your portal

Every user gets a personal upload link. Guests verify with a quick code — no Zoom account needed on their end.

Guest upload portal — visitors enter email or phone to verify, then upload files
Your portal link is included in the welcome Team Chat message and shown on your dashboard. Share it in your email signature, on your website, or send it directly to clients.
When someone opens your portal link, they enter their email or phone number and receive a one-time 6-digit code. Once verified, they can drag-and-drop files to upload.
Zoom Team Chat pings you with the sender's name, file names, and a view link the moment files arrive. All received files are organized in a dedicated "Received Files" Team Chat channel.

Step 3

Send files to anyone

Send files to any email or phone number — recipients get an automatic email with a secure download link.

Send Files form — recipient, files, expiration
Open Encrypt Send in your Zoom app and navigate to Send Files.
Enter your recipient's email address or US/Canada phone number and drag-and-drop up to 10 files. Pick how long the download link should stay active — 7 days on Free, or 7, 30, 90 days, or never on Pro.
By default, anyone with the link can download. Turn on "Require identity verification" if you'd rather the recipient verify with a one-time code before the download unlocks. You can also set this as the default for every send in Settings.
Email recipients get a branded email with a secure download link. Phone recipients get a copyable link you can paste into a Zoom Phone text or any other message.

Pro tip

Use Encrypt Send with Zoom Phone

Every share link is one click to copy — perfect for follow-up texts and live walkthroughs on a call.

After you send a file or generate a share link, click the copy icon. Open Zoom Phone, start a text to your customer, and paste the link. They tap to download instantly — no separate app needed.
On a Zoom Phone call? Send the file from Encrypt Send, then describe what they'll see and where to click. Because the download page is plain and uncluttered, it's easy to walk through verbally.
Files, chat, calls, and texts all live in the same Zoom app. No tab-switching, no juggling separate tools.

Bonus flow

In-Person Share — instant QR code

Face-to-face? Skip email entirely. Generate a QR code, your guest scans it, and they upload immediately.

In-Person Share — instant QR code generated for face-to-face uploads
From your dashboard, tap In-Person Share. A QR code is generated instantly.
The other person scans the QR with their phone camera and goes straight to an upload page — no email, no login. They drag-and-drop and upload.
You get a Team Chat notification with file details. You can optionally add the guest's name for your records.

Bonus flow

Email Invite — request files in one click

Send a branded upload request via email. Your contact clicks the button and goes straight to your portal — no walkthrough required.

Invite Upload — send a branded email with Upload Files button
Open Invite Upload from your dashboard. Enter the recipient's email or phone, plus an optional name.
The recipient gets a clean email with an Upload Files button. They click and arrive at your portal, ready to upload.
When they upload, you get a Team Chat notification with their name and the file details — the same as any other portal upload.

Configuration

Settings

Control who can send you files, when, and how.

Settings — pause incoming, always require verification, blocked senders
Turn on "Always require email verification" to make every download require the recipient to verify with a one-time code before they see the files. Useful when you handle sensitive information.
Pause your portal so guests see a clean "Transfers paused" message. Set an optional auto-resume date. You can still send files while paused — pausing only affects incoming uploads.
Add an email or phone number to the blocklist in Settings → Blocked Senders. Blocked contacts won't be able to log in or upload through your portal.
From Settings, copy your portal URL or download a printable QR code. On Pro, you can also choose a custom URL like "/to/yourname."
